Talk : Who is a boy (hands up) Who is a girl?  Who is better, boys or girls? (make a joke of this as they will all say their own gender is best) Well guess what? God made boys AND girls and He says that both are super important.  Boys and girls can do different things but we need each other. We need friends who are boys and girls.  In the Bible God used boys and girls to do amazing things. Today we are going to be hearing about a girl who did something really brave . Lets pray and thank God for making boys and girls. Pray.

Joshua was a soldier who loved God.  God told Joshua to go to a big city called Jericho and take it away from the people who didnt love God so that Joshua and Gods people could live there and teach the people about God.   Joshua asked two of his friends to sneak into the city to see how many soldiers there were.  They had to hide so that nobody saw them.  Can you remember the name of the girl who helped them to hide?   She was called Rahab.  Do you think she was brave?   I think she was.  If the soldiers had found the men hiding on the roof they would have been really cross.  They might have put Rahab in jail.   Why do you think she wanted to hide Joshuas friends?  I think maybe God spoke to her and asked her to help even though it was dangerous and a bit scary.  Can you remember how Joshuas friends escaped?   Out of the window!!!   Soon after they escaped God Joshua's army caught all the people who lived inside and put them in prison. But God told Joshua not to do that to Rahab because Rahab had helped Gods people.  So God blessed Rahab even though she didnt belong to God's people.  God made her part of His big family.

Snack  Make something like this using crackers and red strawberry laces.  


Game : Hide the spies.  Use a couple of dolls, puppets or figures and hide them somewhere in the room for the kids to find.  Get the slides out and pretend you are escaping from a high window

Extra week. Tower of Babel

Do you remember last week we were learning about Noah?  In the big flood all the people got washed away and Noah and his family were the only people left. When all the water dried up and Noah came out of the boat, what was in the sky? Yes, a rainbow. And what did God promise?  That He would never send a flood like that again. Today we are going to find out what happened next.  God said to Noah, I want your family to spread out all over the place and build your houses far apart. But Noahs children and grandchildren wanted to stay all together so they didn't do what God told them. Instead they decided to build one big huge house for them all to live in. They said "everyone will see our amazing house and will know we are the best builders and really important people." So the built higher (build with boxes) and higher....and higher. summer 2 Noah

 talk time. What is the weather today?  In different weather  we need different clothes. Show different items - wooly hat, wellies, gloves, umbrella, sun hat, sandals, scarf etc. Talk about the sort of weather we would wear these things. Read the story of Noah from the big picture book.  Take time for the children to look at the animals.  Ask  if anyone has seen a rainbow. Every time we see a rainbow in the sky we remember that God saved Noah and his family and all the animals and promised He would never flood the earth again.  We are going to make a rainbow now.
