summer 1 Adam and Eve


 Talk time.   Are we ever naughty? Do we sometimes say NO to Mummy or Daddy? Do we ever say something that isnt true? Listen to the kids and explain that we need to say sorry when we do wrong things.  We can say sorry to our families and  also sorry to God because He wants us to be good and it makes Him sad when we are naughty.

Pray and say sorry for the mean and bad things we've done

Lesson.  Read the story of creation in God Made A World  Its a 'lift-the-flap' book so get the kids to take it in turns to lift flaps (if that doesnt descend into chaos!) Then show the pictures in the Noahs Ark book and briefly tell about the temptation and the serpent.

Activity

Adam and Eve had a lovely world to play in and God said they could have anything they wanted except one thing.  A bit like this

Lay out a range of snacks on the table, Grapes, apple ,banana, raisins ,bread sticks and sweets.  Tell the children they can eat everything except the sweets then see what happens! When they have eaten everything ask them if they really wanted the sweets.  Tell them this is called temptation - when we want something that we are not allowed to have.   All the other treats are good for us but sweets are not. It is really hard when we see things we want and a grown up says no.  When God said no to Adam and Eve it was because He knew that if they ate that fruit it would spoil everything.  They ate it and then they felt really bad inside.  They felt scared of God in case He was cross with them. They should have listened to God just like we should listen to Him and to grown ups.

Extra week. Tower of Babel

Do you remember last week we were learning about Noah?  In the big flood all the people got washed away and Noah and his family were the only people left. When all the water dried up and Noah came out of the boat, what was in the sky? Yes, a rainbow. And what did God promise?  That He would never send a flood like that again. Today we are going to find out what happened next.  God said to Noah, I want your family to spread out all over the place and build your houses far apart. But Noahs children and grandchildren wanted to stay all together so they didn't do what God told them. Instead they decided to build one big huge house for them all to live in. They said "everyone will see our amazing house and will know we are the best builders and really important people." So the built higher (build with boxes) and higher....and higher. summer 2 Noah

 talk time. What is the weather today?  In different weather  we need different clothes. Show different items - wooly hat, wellies, gloves, umbrella, sun hat, sandals, scarf etc. Talk about the sort of weather we would wear these things. Read the story of Noah from the big picture book.  Take time for the children to look at the animals.  Ask  if anyone has seen a rainbow. Every time we see a rainbow in the sky we remember that God saved Noah and his family and all the animals and promised He would never flood the earth again.  We are going to make a rainbow now.
