Mini church planning - Moses 2

Hello!

This week we are focusing on Moses and the Burning bush 🔥 .

  • Upstairs for singing
  • Name badges

Recap:

Last week we learn about a baby.  What’s was his name? Moses

What happened to Moses? His mummy put him in a basket on the river to save him.  The princess found him.

Today’s story is about when this baby Moses has grown ups.

Thought:

Sometimes God asks us to do hard things doesn’t He? And sometimes we might feel like it’s too hard for us so we might pretend like we didn’t hear God or make an excuse for why we can’t do it.

Today’s story is about when God asks Moses to do something and Moses is scared and thinks he can’t do it.

Let’s read the story..,

Moses had grown up in the palace.  But he knew he didn’t really belong.

Moses decided to run away from the palace and he lived as a shepherd for many years.

One day as Moses was out with his flock of sheep he saw a strange sight. There in front of him was a bush, but it was no ordinary bush. This bush was on fire!

(If you a branch or anything out your garden you could bring that.  Ragin I brought an old tree to the dump last week)

Ask: Have you ever seen something on fire? What happens to it after a few minutes?

When something catches on fire, eventually it will be burned up. It will turn black and eventually be just ashes. The strangest thing of all about the bush that Moses saw was that it was not burned up by the flames. Imagine what Moses must have thought!

Then things got even weirder. Suddenly Moses heard God speaking to him through the flames! God told Moses that he was standing on holy ground so he must take off shoes.

Then God told Moses that he had a big job for Moses to do!  GOD TOLD Moses to go back to the palace and tell Pharaoh to let the Israelites go.  They were slaves.

BUT…

Moses was scared.

He thought he couldn’t do it. He told God he wasn’t very good at speaking.

He was afraid that the Egyptians/Pharaoh  wouldn’t listen to him.

Moses made all sorts of excuses to God about why he wasn’t the right man for the job.

But God promises to be with those who He calls!

Moses didn’t need to be afraid because God would be with him no matter what. In fact, God would work through Moses to rescue the Israelites.

It was hard for Moses at first, but he finally obeyed (did what he was told) God’s call to return to Egypt to rescue the Israelites from slavery.

Lesson:

Sometimes God will ask you to do something that might be hard.

Examples:

Talk at the front of church

Make friends with someone new

Pray for someone

(Ask for examples)

REMEMBER

Sometimes God asks us to do things that might be hard for us.  But He always gives us the strength to do what He’s asked us to do!

And he will be there helping us as we do it.

Video optional:: look up Saddleback kids but sometimes the burning bush ones are too scary.

Craft - We are going to make a craft today to help us remember the story of the burning bush and that if God asks us to do something he will help us do it.

Craft - Stick on sticks (strips of brown paper)

Then one by one add a blob of yellow and red paint and BLOW with a straw!

Pretend blowing before putting in the paint to they don’t suck up the paint!!!

Also we will check the paint but we might had a tiny bit of water.
