Talk time :  How strong are you?  Whats the strongest thing you can do? Who can pick me up off the floor? Im stronger than you- I can pick you up. Look!!!  Today we are going to learn about someone in the Bible who was not very strong by himself, but was super-strong with God.  We can be strong with God too.  Lets ask God to make us all strong.  Pray.

God told Joshua to march round the walls.  How many times? What else did the army have to do? Could the army have knocked down the wall by themselves? ( Show them a real trumpet if possible -  Rory has one he could lend us! )We are going to see if we can knock down a wall by ourselves.

(I have a large piece of board painted like bricks. Get a couple of adults to stand behind it so kids cant push it over. Get them to try for a while then go and make trumpets. After they have made them get them to march round seven times, blow trumpets and shout. Let the wall fall down)

Craft make a trumpet using the cardboard cones.  Decorate them with tissue paper

or make a paper cone to attach to the end of a party blower. This will make a trumpet which actually make a noise.

Extra week. Tower of Babel

Do you remember last week we were learning about Noah?  In the big flood all the people got washed away and Noah and his family were the only people left. When all the water dried up and Noah came out of the boat, what was in the sky? Yes, a rainbow. And what did God promise?  That He would never send a flood like that again. Today we are going to find out what happened next.  God said to Noah, I want your family to spread out all over the place and build your houses far apart. But Noahs children and grandchildren wanted to stay all together so they didn't do what God told them. Instead they decided to build one big huge house for them all to live in. They said "everyone will see our amazing house and will know we are the best builders and really important people." So the built higher (build with boxes) and higher....and higher.  talk time. What is the weather today?  In different weather  we need different clothes. Show different items - wooly hat, wellies, gloves, umbrella, sun hat, sandals, scarf etc. Talk about the sort of weather we would wear these things. Read the story of Noah from the big picture book.  Take time for the children to look at the animals.  Ask  if anyone has seen a rainbow. Every time we see a rainbow in the sky we remember that God saved Noah and his family and all the animals and promised He would never flood the earth again.  We are going to make a rainbow now.
